December 7th 2012 BLOG

Today in human geo. we watched more of the people’s republic of capitalism, we finished watching the rest of the first one  I think, it was mainly talking about how china deals with buying and selling cars, 80% of chines are buying their first car at a older age. China likes smaller cars because of most people who can afford a car live in the city and there’s no room in the city for cars anyway, but America doesn’t buy that many chines car because they don’t meet the standard that cars must have to be drove in America. Although cars that are made in china that America buys are put on a large ship and sailed over the pacific ocean on onto the west coast.

November 28,2012 BLOG

Today in human geo. we watched more of “ the people’s republic of captiatizum” . We watched the beginning of it in the last class but we only watched five minutes so it was hard to follow at first. It is mainly based around China and its economy, and how that effects America’s jobs. The Chinese train their children how to speak English and helpful information to get them better jobs for china later in their lives. In America our jobs are outsourced to countries like china so that they don’t have to pay the workers as much and save money. Chinese workers take apart old house to salvage the metal rods in the walls, to sell, They make about 1-3 dollars a day. China has over one and a half million workers in construction alone, trying to make cities large tourist cites.

November 26th 2012 BLOG

Today in human geo, we started by looking at the quiz we took a long time ago before break. I got a 69 on it.. because i got really confused on one part so i mixed up all the answers, putting the answers up now would be pointless because they are in the blog right here. After going over it and talking about nothing for a while after we started to watch "the peoples republic of capitalism" we didnt really get any useful information yet. all i have down are simple things like how countries come together to help each other in moment of need, such as disasters.

November 15th 2012 BLOG

Today in Human geo we went over the answers we got for all the countries' year of finding independence and other facts about the countries. Now it was a bit more difficult then i thought, because i had to go to wiki and read through everything and find out the right facts. Again i dont have to right down some of the facts here because if there was an open blog test, Because i can just go to that blog. I still dont understand about the randomly generated blogs that get deleted as soon as they are made.. and it seems that every few hours the numbers go up and up and up, there are 591 deleted blogs now and i'm sure by tomorrow there will be a few hundred more.

October 8th 2012, BLOG

Today in Human geo. we went over the answers that we got for the facts blog, about the worlds leaders. I don't have to write them all down because if we get to use our blogs i would just look at that. But it was some simple facts that would be pretty easy to know.. Today we also had two shadows and i love how uncomfortable they get in this class because you put them on the spot and it's really awkward when a bunch of older high school kids are looking at you, and you have no idea what to say. My shadow was really mean and didn't do anything cool with me or introduce  me to the class or anything... it was really sad...

October 18 2012

Today in Human Geo. we went over the notes that we took about the different religions, but if i ever get to use my blog during the test I can just go to that blog... so it would be a waste of time and button pushing to write it down AGAIN. So to start off today's class we started talking about Stinkbugs, And how Mr. Schick had like millions of them in his house, which makes me question how off ten he cleans his and things of that nature.. I actually have never see a stink bug in my house, ( only win for Baltimore city!) So I can’t really relate to what you guys were talking about.. Then we started the note and talked for a long long time about Judaism, Buddhism and Hinduism. I can’t remember if we talked about nothing of importance after that or not though.. Then I served Ricky justice for asking you if your tie came in man colors ( sorry about that.. but you made fun of Eleanor too, so you had it coming )

October 15 2012 BLOG

Today in Human geo. took down more notes, About how some countries spilt up because they have such strong religious views. I don’t remember what country that we used as example, but point is that sometimes people are shunned for not believing in one thing. It could be religion, or it could be what ethnicity you are. I should probably start bring my notebook home, so I can actually start putting useful stuff in this blog, otherwise it is just me blabbing about how I was feeling that day or something like that. At one point we were talking about something about someone who traveled and hated on a individual religion( I don’t remember who it was or what religion it was) So I think it was god who struck him with blindness, so that he would stop hating on that individual religion. I want really pay attention so I Only heard bits and pieces.
P.S. This is late because the internet at my house is currently not working. :(

                                                            Christianity
The word Christian came from the insult that people were called when they followed Christ. The word originated in Israel where the teaching of Jesus Christ began. It all started about AD 41. Christianity is considered a monotheistic religion because it only revolves around one god. Christianity’s holy book is called the bible, consisting of stories of god. October 11, 2012 BLOG

Today in Human geo. we really do that much. We started with finished up the Columbus group’s slide show, again there wasn’t a whole lot to learn in my point view. When that was finished up we looked at a slide show about the world’s culture, consisting of how it works. Such as people who speak the same language therefor have the same culture. Or the way that things are celebrated, or taught. After a while of taking notes about culture, we started talking about random things that kinda related to what we’re talking about. Like how us Americans get very frustrated when there is a lot of (mostly Spanish ) things are not in English. So that was how our “sorta off topic, but not really “conversation went, Then it lead to prank calling and varies things of that nature.

October 10, 2012 BLOG

Today in Human Geo. we presented or slide shows about either Native American ( me ), Viking and Columbus.  So the Native American group went first and we just went over the questions that you gave us, they were really easy considering we didn't have to deny anything. In that case I mean the Native Americans didn’t ravish their land, and only killing things necessary for survival. Then were the Vikings, which I didn’t really learn anything from because they were simple things that I've picked up through the years, like the boats they came from and general things like so. Then Columbus, now ever since last year when I learned the truth about Columbus I have had a deep hatred for him. Now usually I get over things, but for some reason this really really bothered me, so whenever I have the chance to bash him I do. Also I had already knew everything to know about him since it was just last year that I was learning about him. I still took down a reasonable amount of notes.

Today in Human geo, we went over the test. which i just barely passing :(... it was really simple things that i keep slipping up on, like i knew that they were from Sudan but i just forgot to answer it ! and i spelled restaurant wrong and i didn't write what kind of factory he worked at, and stupid stuff like that.  Before that we welcomed Mike into our class! he's in like, in all my classes!! He is too big for our desks so me and Wilfred had to move back two seats so he could move his feet. I hate sitting in the back.. its so lonely, We later split in groups so that we can do a project on Columbus, whom i truly hate ..  for so many many reasons !  so I was in a group with the native Americans,  later i will work on the Google documents and answer a bunch of questions, I have to answer question 4 !

Today in Human geo, we took the test on " god grew tired of us". Personally i didn't know that there was a test today, I have a problem with figuring out what day it is, and what tests are on what day. So I think I did ok on it, but I always say that when I'm asked how i think of done, I say ok.. I guess. Then you forced the poor little shadow to read the test, and while she read the paper the answers were feed in. After all the answers were given.. I'm really sad :( I was so close to getting them right, like I said Christians instead of catholic. I mixed a lot up like that, so I’ll be happy if I get a passing grade. After the explaining the answers, Mr. Schick asked what our shadow did and something cool about her. She has a twin brother and plays the piano. And to finish off with class we talk about animals killing other animals.

October 4, 2012 BLOG

Today in human geo. we talked about Mr. Schick’s  old school and how he could have graduated at 16 but he  had to have one more credit. So he had to go to this crappy overcrowded and most of the kids smoked, Then for the most of the class we just talked about smoking is bad and things of the nature. We got really side tracked, like always (not a bad thing). After we finished talking about nothing we were reviewing the movie and explained our ideas to help Sudan. But before we started talking about it, Mr. Schick showed us the e-mail that John Dau sent us, and how his does his touring.. if that’s the right word.  6,000-10,000 dollars just to get him to come and then we would have to pay for expensive like hotel and the plane.

October 3rd 2012 BLOG

Today in Human Geo. we were brain storming what we could do to help out the refugees in Sudan. Before we started brain storming you were explaning what the last class did to the web page. The deleting things off the page and writing “ Mason eats dead puppies”, I asked Mason in the next class how that came up and he said that he did really know.. at all. So after that we broke into groups and started talking about ideas, I was in a group with Alice and we did ours on this Toms (the shoes company) give on for one project. I don’t remember what the second idea was.. Then there wasn’t a lot of work to be done just in this class, just the sentences that describes what we were thinking.

October 1, 2012 BLOG

Today in human Geo. we completed watching " God grew tired of us". In the end there were a lot of good things that came out and not so good things. Panther finished school and left America to marry his girlfriend, and has put effort into building a school and a hospital in the refugee camps. He also found his mother and sister and reunited with them. John dau flew his family in and they are still living in new York. He and his family have been raising awareness about the refugee camps and the war in Sudan. Daniel never contacted his family; they are possibly living in a refugee camp or dead. He has been in community colleges and working in the factory until he finishes school. With the idea of somehow we can help make a difference, there are many ways that we could work to help the refugee camps.  I think that one of the first steps would be contacting most likely John or panther just because they were a big help in raising awareness. My best bet would be John though, because he has put the most action into the project. Writing a notice-ful amount letters from our freshman class telling him that we would like to help make a difference too. Even if he never answered our letters ( which would be sad) we could start a march to raise awareness.

September 29 2012 BLOG

In human Geo on Friday we watched more of “God grew tired of us”. In this session the boys started start school to hopefully find a better job. Panther I believe, got a letter from his family saying that they were alive but they were starving and suffering from diseases. I thought that it was a little harsh when his family sent him the letter because they didn't really say they were happy for him. I understand that it was still unbelievable that they are alive and somewhat safe, but no one said it’s wonderful that you are out of this horrible place, They just said make sure to send money and this is how horrible we are doing. Of course panther pitted them so he dropped out of school so he could make the most money he can to send to his family back at home.

September 27 BLOG

Today in human Geo. we watched more of “god grew tired of us”.  We started at the part when some of the boys were leaving for America, A lot of the boys that weren’t going were disappointed, which I can totally get because they don’t get to start their lives over. When we think of the boys not knowing what a donut is, its really sad if you think about it. We think of our world as a technology filled world, and in reality a fourth of the world doesn’t have electricity and doesn’t know what butter is.  So we can go ahead and laugh when they don’t know what potato chips are, or how a lamp works but over all its pretty messed up. But I felt like there should be more of the racism, because I sure that they were judged. I mean there in America, more than a few people had to give them a weird look.

September 26, 2012 BLOG

Today in human Geo. we went over the quiz and watched more of the movie. Today we also had a little shadow! ( I want one too !) so of course you most likely scared her a little, but that’s ok! So the answers that I got wrong on the test were totally understand able. Some of them were just basic picking the wrong one because I was thinking about something else, things like that. Over all I got a 79 which is like REALLY close to a 80, and that’s a B so.. I pretty much got a B. Close to the end of review was when you left the room, but I come from a HORRIABLE class that always got in trouble ( Baltimore city schools for you) so I wasn’t really a surprise. Then we watched the movie, which made me sad (thank you very much) and took notes that I hope will one day be useful!

September 24th 2012 BLOG

Today in human geo we took the big quiz thing! To be totally honest.. I didn’t study ( sorry L ) it completely slipped my mind this weekend.  Though I feel like I did ok on the quiz because a lot of it was basic knowledge, thought I did see some of the memorization for things like what does this country rate in the world sale of bla bla bla.. and stuff like that. AND not to using my injury to an advantage, But since I was pelted in the head with a soccer ball I was a bit frazzled, and I had a bad headache. Also this  morning I had checked my grades in power school and I got a lot of points off for not blogging, but I couldn’t blog because my blog wasn’t up till Thursday, I think. Though I understand that I could have wrote one for Thursday and Friday.

September 12th BLOG

Today in Human Geo. we talked about.. like million different things! im not really sure what we were talking about  half the  time because I zoned out a few times ( not my fault it was the morning) but for the most part we were going over the homework and talking about the questions that we had to answer. I did mine but, I didn’t realize that we had to pick a few and state why they were important.. I Believe for most the class we branched off to different subjects like when we were talking about why Mexico has the most airports ( because of tourist  ) we shared about what different countries we had been to before, then that branched off into more subjects. I enjoy the branching off to different things, because we learn a lot of new things just by not staying on track, but most of them are good things. such as learning that it took 10-12 day just to get to Europe and now it just takes about 7-9 hours.

September 6th BLOG

Today in human Geo. we went over how to talk notes about notes. at first I was like; your kidding right? but after a while I didn’t care. It was really simple to make, I mean it was just taking notes, I took a lot of notes in my last school so I was on top of things. Like you don’t have to have complete sentences, make sure you keep up with the teacher, don’t worry about spelling and ask questions. After all the note taking about notes we were tested on taking notes by looking at a paper about Illinois.  About how many people live there, where they live, what the states, other names for the state, like and that sort of thing. Also we learned that Mr. Schick is kinda like Jesus, in a way..  After discussing that, we put our notes we took about Illinois, and made blog if we were talking about Illinois, mine was pretty simple.

Human Geo. Day 6

Today in human Geo, we looked at how to add links to our blogs. Click design or dashboard whatever you have on your blog, then layout and add the link gadget. Then simply add the links that you want on it, I thought it was pretty easy to remember. also I think it’s was cool how you have a strange love for Wikipedia.. but I guess that’s ok..  I mean I’m in love with Facebook.. same thing right? I got all my work done so there wasn’t really any problems or questions about anything, actually I really enjoyed writing the story about if Socrates and Elbert Hubert were to meet, though I wish I put more detail into the story.  Over all, I liked the essays. I felt like that was a good enough work for high school-ers, it was a bit of a shock because at my old school I didn’t get homework but I just need to get back in to the swing of things.

If Elbert Hubbard and Socrates time-traveled to 2012

If the two were to meet, it would most likely meet up in a park. Considering that buildings are way to advance for them to comprehend. The introductions would be little awkward thanks to Socrates strange facial features, but after they find things in common it’s not as bad. After about 20 minutes Elbert brings up the mobiles cutting each other off and people yelling at each other from there mobile windows and brings up the message to Garcia, saying that he bets none of these people would go out of there way for anything. Socrates nods as he watches people on benches talk into shiny rocks, Elbert realizes he’s not paying attention, he gets up and abruptly says “ I bet if I ask anyone in this area if they could send a message for me they wouldn’t”.  Socrates (not really hearing Elbert, agrees). So He walks up middle aged women and asks her if she would send a message for him, she gives him a strange look and walks away. Elbert turns to Socrates and starts back to his seat. They agree and Socrates starts to wonder if people still thought that gods were the purpose of everything too. So he started off towards a group of people standing by a lamppost, he asked if they believed that the gods controlled the sun and the weather. The group didn’t say anything just watched him until they said no and walked away, Socrates headed back to his seat. Elbert started talking about how people haven’t changed and he’s ready to go back, but Socrates disagreed and said he’s going to stay a little longer.

Arete

Socrates easily demonstrated arĂȘte because he thought and spoke outside of what he was told. By not sticking to religion and beliefs he changed history, now someone else might have figured it out later in time but that still would have changed things in the future. Also Socrates resembles having strength and being brave, for truly speaking his own thoughts about the town of Athens. I loved that he didn’t care if he was put to death, he did what was on his mind and wasn’t band wagoner. Though excellences is usually graded by other people, it took until hundredths of year later when intelligences reached a different level to understand. Meaning that Socrates set a new standard of excellence, which people could not get to in till father down the scale of evolution. But we can’t just call all the other towns people of Athens utterly stupid, they just went along with what they were told. Socrates was just a man born into the wrong time period.

Excellence at John Carroll

-I will pay attention in class, Meaning that the computer will not serve as something to use when I am really bored. I won’t talk to my neighbor or just simply dose off during class.

-Participate, school is an interactive thing. If you don’t speak up or ask questions you’re not helping yourself, the only stupid question is a question not asked.

-Work comes before friends, if your friends were really your friends they would know that you need to get your work done before going to the movies or having a sleepover. Also you should find the right people, like the kind  that encourage you to do your work and not encourage things like skipping class or blowing homework to do something else.

- Staying on top of work, I will not leave all my work to do on the last day  before it is due. Try to span thing out so I’m not overwhelmed, Make sure that I study hard before a test or really any time so I know I understand the work.

-Keeping organized, losing my papers is something I tend to do but I need to my put work together  in a binder or in a folder as soon as I get it so it’s not going to get lost. With text books I need to cover them and keep them safe, not leaving them in the cafeteria or leaving them with people I can’t really trust.

Human Geo. day 4

Yesterday in class we talked about the definitions for the words that we were given on Thursday. We talked about the word and what they meant and we started talking about Socrates, his theory and the death of Socrates. I think also think that whole town is very stupid, because how could the sun be a person ridding a crossed the sky?? I can totally get that people lived there whole lives believing that though, like when I was little I believed in Santa but till told over wise I believed that. So I get both point of views, but of course people are going to make them look intelligent. Again in class it was a little focus with the lights out, but I guess that kid behind kept me awake by repeatedly kicking my chair. But I still listened, and I have also been wondering what is in the drink that Socrates had to drink, is it a snake venom, poisons flower or a mixture of different things?

Human Geo day 3

Today in Human Geo we read and took notes on ‘A message to Garcia”. I personally really enjoyed the story because it’s so true, People don’t do their work unless their lives depends on it. Take the easy way out, I can omit to doing that.. but not like.. all the time. But the point that I’m getting to is most people will not got out of their way to do something for someone else. I think that we got a good amount of work done in this class period, I guess just taking notes is probably the most work we have got done this week. It wasn’t all boring either, thanks to the donuts we had some comedy put into class. Also we kidded around and had some laughs but we stayed on topic and did get carried away, sorta. The only thing that was not so great about today was that some of the seats were moved around and the kid that now sits next to me, always has a smart comment to say.. so that gets annoying some times.

I had problems with the site but I wasn’t just going to not do It, I was on the site for about 2 hours figuring things out.

Human Geo day 1

Today we didn’t really do that much, we mostly went over the rules and how we must act to succeed. It was a little hard to follow because the lights were out due to using the projector, so I was slightly falling asleep. Also it was about lunch time so I was starving, but other than those distractions it was all understandable. We must follow the honor code, no plagiarism, if you don’t your homework on time points will be deducted each day it is late, basic things.  Also it really helped that the class before me was telling me almost the exact same thing, so it’s definitely sticking in my brain for a while. The end of the class was spent by people that hadn’t don’t there blogs figuring out how to use them. I had the same problem the night before, snaking all around the blog site to try and find out how to send it.                                            (I officially hate Google plus )

First impressitions

The morning started out with a 45 minute ride to John Carroll that was filled with anxiety, new school new people. When I first walked in the doors I was ready for school to start. During breakfast I realized that one of my friends that use to live down the street from me was there. I also saw a couple girls from my old camp. After breakfast we went to the auditorium for a speech about how things work at John Carroll and who John Carroll was. We then headed off to advisory and to work out our lockers. Learning to use a locker with a combination lock was a little stressful. We had snack after that but my stomach was still spinning from all the new things and so I was not very hungry. Everyone broke up into a group to take photos and learn things about the school schedule. When lunch time came I still wasn’t over my jitters so I still didn’t eat much of anything. After lunch we started to go to all our classes.  The experience of meeting all the different students and teachers was definitely interesting.
